  • ~ Mish-Mash ~

What can I say?? I felt the need to do a little updating and let anyone who reads this (which is probably not many... ) know what's been going on with me... so.. here it goes...

    * If I can say anything about IV... yes they have great fellowship... but it's that they do planning... like a lot of planning... no.. let me sratch that... like A HUMONGOUS WHOPPER LOAD of planning!  I've just come off of two, count them two, weekends (in a row) of planning for the upcoming Winter and Spring Quarter... which was good, but very exhausting...

    * Work is so much easier when students aren't around... lol   But there's no rest for the laborer at OSU, so be happy for those that have such things as a "Winter Break"... they don't really exist in the real working world...

    * Speaking of the working world... has anyone else had a moment when you think there couldn't be any other possible topic, interest, subject, or thing that you could look up on Google that you haven't already... and yet you find something like this?  Let's see if you can do it...

    * It's that time of year again... that you just want to sit and watch
A Charlie Brown Christmas Special, A Christmas Story, and  Nestor, the Long Eared Christmas Donkey (that's a blast from the past.. lol)  and settle in for the night... it got me thinking... what are some of your fave Christmas/holiday programs??

    * In link w/ Charlie Brown... I didn't know this existed until like a couple of weeks ago.  This mash-up is amazing!

    * I haven't made snowflakes like this since I was in like grade school...

*It's getting closer to me being a year older... has it been a whole year already!?!?  Who would've thought that we're coming upon 2007 so soon???  This seems like so, so, so, so, so long ago... sure we can laugh now... but I'm sure my family wasn't the only one stocked up that year... lol

    *Random Articles*

"Christian vs. Christ-Follower" - This is a couple of videos modeled after the "I'm a PC, I'm a MAC" commericals and how Christians are different than Christ-followers.  I found the vids interesting with some interesting discussions at the bottom.  You tell me... did the vids get it right?

"Something Warm and Furry" - An article about a group of researchers in the Univ. of Illinois-Chicago that are going to study the behaviors of squirrels!  Everyone together now... awwwwwww

"Make smaller condoms"? - Apparently a study has taken place that shows the American condom is too big proportionally for men in India.  Interesting article since we've been talking a lot about race and stereotypes in IV... just something to ponder...

How many days till Christmas???  13! I can't wait!!!!

    Holla Back!

  • ... Are you Afraid?...

I can't believe that it's Friday the 13th... in October no less... it's almost like a sign...

What's going on in my world??  Hmmm... it's a very interesting topic, which I'll spend a little time on since I haven't updated this thing in AGES... behold the world of J...

Well, I just got a promotion on my job... I'm now Program Coordinator for the DSO Office at OSU... yay!   It's really a fancy title that means I get to plan... A LOT... and coordinate stuff... A LOT... and realize more and more that....I don't really know what I'm doing... sometimes ignorance really is bliss...

I'm still, still, still w/ IV... seriously... what the hell is wrong with me!?!??!  lolol  It's like my friend Ram says... "you can take the girl out of IV, but you can't take IV out of the girl...."  it sometimes just makes me feel old, but then again... it pushes me at the same time... I'm helping out with an ethnic specific ministry (Ignite)  for African-American students... and I'm still gonna dance, dance, dance... God... what are you up to??

Speaking of God... things have been very interesting in our relationship lately... I've been discovering just how "numb" I've been to Him... for like months... and it was all because I was afraid... have you ever been afraid?  Afraid of what God might ask you to do that's bigger than yourself... afraid that the things that you want to do with your life might not come to pass... afraid that you're not living your life to the fullest and yet afraid that you're not doing anything to change it... afraid that God is disappointed in you... afraid that you can't come back to Him... afraid that you won't live up to your potential... afraid that you've made some huge mistakes and you can't go back and change them... afraid that the only thing up ahead for you is... you're not sure what???  Are U Afraid?  Afraid right now... not b/c of the day, but b/c of the situation you're in?  Has anyone else ever felt this way?

Yeah... I'm finally starting to wade out of all of that... I didn't realize how much fear can grip you if you allow it... and how much it can keep you from doing what God has purposed for you in His heart and yours... I just have to keep on remembering... this and this... no matter how cliche' they may sound...

I'm still plugging away at applying for grad school... which makes it harder seeing how I just received the promotion... what's a person to do?  Should I wait another year?  Should I just keep going?  Should I chuck the whole thing???   Ok... let's not get crazy.. maybe not chuck the whole thing... but the closer the dates get, the more I feel like maybe I'm not cut out for this... but I'll press on...

On a lighter note... my birthday is coming up!  As well as all the wonderful holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving (although I don't know in the whole sense if I'd call Thanksgiving a wonderful holiday... seeing how much damage was done by the Pilgrims to the Native Americans.. but I digress)... and it seems to be getting colder by the second... what is with Ohio weather???? Dude... was it not like 80 degrees about a week ago?  Maybe there is something to Friday the 13th.... hmmm...

Overall, life's been pretty good... how is everyone in your far flung places... I know I have enough friends to visit some very cool places like Cali, Chi-Town, NY, or perhaps TX and FL??  I'm thinking road trip...

For all of you that I know I'm supposed to hang out with, call more, write more, and see... I'm so sorry... please give me grace and I'll get back to all of you soon...

That's the world of me... maybe I'll update this again in another 6 months... lolol... hopefully it'll be sooner than that...

  • ~ Where am I? ~

So much, I feel has happened in such a long span of time!  Well, I guess that would be accurate, especially seeing how the last time I wrote on this was back in December!  Well, quick recap:

     - I'm on the cusp of a new position with my job (my job being an academic advising associate in college)
     - I just celebrated my Mom's birthday
     - My sister has moved out on her own (and now lives in Indianapolis)
     - I'm still with IV (even after alllllllllllllllllllll these years! lol )
     - I'm taking a Screenwriting class (which could hopefully, maybe, perhaps, be my focus for graduate work)
     - I did go to Atlanta (2 times in the span of a month!)
     - I'm slowly working through the muck that is preparing for and applying to graduate school (both in state and out of state)
     - I'm honestly starting to think that I won't be in Ohio next year
     - I really need to catch up with people and visit some random places... any thoughts??
     - Still single...
     - I'm finally starting to see some light at the end of a very, very, very long tunnel...

Yes, I know some of those are kinda vague... but hey, that's kinda how I'm feeling at the moment.  I can't believe that we're mid-quarter (almost) and that Spring is here and before you know it, another class will be graduating from OSU (Big Up's to Seniors!! ) And even with all of that, I feel my life has been pretty much the same throughout - which I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing... maybe it's neither... maybe it's just neutral...

I'm really starting to think that maybe I should be a counselor of some sort... I like listening to people and helping them... maybe I'll be like Lucy... 5 cents please!  Overall, life's been better... which is definetly a good thing...

In the words of Ice Cube... I didn't even have to use my A-K, I gotta say it was a good day...

  • Pussycat Dolls : Stickwitu @ FreeFreeVideos

I really don't know why this video is so infectious... but it really is!! Even though I heard that it was someone completely different actually singing the songs, but still...It's got a nice beat... but I think I really like the words... for some reason, it's one of those secular songs that sometime reminds you of your relationship to Christ... weird! You know what I mean??? Do you have songs that are "secular" but it sounds more like they should be written for Christ? (which could lead into another discussion of what's "Christian" music vs. what is "secular" music... but anyway... )

Merry Christmas to all (if I don't see you before then) and have a very Happy New Year!!

    Countdown until Atlanta... 5 days...

  • ~ So much... So fast... ~

There has been A LOT that has transpired within the past week or so... so let's do a little recap shall we?

1.) I got to go to Atlanta, GA for free with my job... I just had to take a whole bunch of students with me... lol which was really fun!  We got to see the MLK Historic Center, Georgia Aquarium, History of Atlanta Museum, Stone Mountain, and eat some really, really good food!

2.) I've turned a year older... for those that came out and celebrated with me... & .  For those that didn't BOO HISS!!  LOLOL   But I'm glad to be one year older and hopefully... as the saying goes... one year wiser...

3.) I'll be going home for Christmas (which is only to Cincy) but after that I'll be going to a conference with IV called "Atlanta 2005: Identity Theft"... which I think is going to be AWESOME!  Check out info here.  I'll be going with two other students and my wonderful friend Claudia.  And isn't funny that I was just in Atlanta a week ago and now I get to go back!?!?  Does anyone else think that God may be up to something??   If you have time... pray for us!

I think that's all that is going to be going on in the next few days... but man... it's going to be going soooooooo fast!!!    May I focus and pay attention and not miss anything....

On another note... I hope everyone's break is going well... have some fun... relax... eat and give and receive a lot, because once you're back here (if you go to OSU) remember that the only break that we have is MLK Day until Spring Break!!!   Oh well... maybe it won't be so bad... maybe

    HOLLA!
